A Detroit Discovery with Buick and OnStar

Earlier this month, some of the nation's top lifestyle and technology bloggers had the opportunity to discover what Detroit has to offer. OnStar and Buick were able to help make it happen.

Bloggers and influencers from near and far recently visited Detroit, where they learned firsthand about OnStar’s high-tech roots and everyday convenience – all while discovering what the home of General Motors’ World Headquarters has to offer. Throughout their stay, attendees visited the OnStar Innovation Lab, toured the Command Center, tested out Stolen Vehicle Slowdown in vehicles provided by Buick, and made time for stops at local shops, restaurants and parks along the way. The trip concluded with an OnStar guided scavenger hunt throughout the city where competitors were challenged to use OnStar technology and services to navigate through a series of clues.

Among the influencers in attendance were Nicole Wakelin of geekmom.com and Nick Shell of Parents.com. Nicole was blown away by the connectivity of OnStar’s services. She noted that “These people, from the executives we spoke with to the call center representatives we got to sit with, don’t see their job as giving directions. They see it as helping people. They see it as saving lives.”

Aside from learning about OnStar’s offerings and getting to drive the new 2014 Buick Regal, Nicole immensely enjoyed experiencing the beauty of Belle Isle Park and stops at the city’s Whole Foods during the guided scavenger hunt.

Nick was also impressed with the vibrancy and innovation coming out of Detroit. To sum up his visit, he referred to Detroit as “a really cool city” and looks forward to his next trip back.

We look forward to seeing him again soon!
