2015 GMC Canyon: Delivering What Customers Want – Tony DiSalle

Refinement, comfort and strength make the all-new GMC Canyon the best of all worlds

Claiming a new product will redefine its segment is a bold claim – but this is exactly how we feel about the all-new 2015 GMC Canyon.

The truck brings a lot to the table from a technology standpoint, including available OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with a Wi-Fi hotspot in the vehicle. Additionally, the Canyon features GMC’s IntelliLink system, with its easy-to-use voice recognition, and eight-inch color touch screen.

But Canyon engineers went beyond the customer-friendly technology – they left no stone unturned in giving this truck all the features a customer might want. For example, side-corner step bumpers allow customers to put their foot in the bumper to step up into the pickup box, versus having to step on a rear wheel. The segment-first EZ Lift-and-Lower locking tailgate uses an internal torsion bar to make raising the tailgate easier with one hand, and a damper for more-controlled lowering. Finally, 13 reconfigurable and four stationary tie-down locations are included throughout the bed for use with available, removable cargo tie-down rings.

Moving to the interior, that same ingenuity and attention to detail is evident.  It’s refined, comfortable, and quiet, with amenities previously unseen in a midsize truck. Amenities like premium materials, real aluminum and seats designed for comfort on even the longest days on the road.

Midsize truck customers have told us loud and clear that these are the attributes they’ve missed.  In fact, this segment has some of the least satisfied customers in the industry.  With the Canyon, they won’t have to sacrifice ride quality for capability, towing capability for fuel economy, or interior materials for affordability

We’ve seen defection from the midsize pickup segment to other segments so customers can get those amenities. However, many have stayed in the segment – no matter how dissatisfied they are, because they like the pickup utility at this size.  What better time to launch a midsize pickup that offers the best of all worlds – comfort, refinement, and quietness combined with pure pickup capabilities and fuel efficiency.  Now is the time for the 2015 GMC Canyon.
