Automotive engineering may be a male-dominated career field – but it doesn’t have to be. ELLE Magazine recently sat down with Shannon Chiarcos, a Human Factors Engineer and Interaction Designer for Cadillac, to learn what it takes to succeed in a role women aren’t typically associated.

What’s her advice for women interested in pursuing an engineering career? “Go for it! Industries that are male dominated are some of the most powerful, secure and fastest growing industries in the market. If you count yourself out, you shut so many doors.”
