Since I started working at Huber Cadillac this past March, every day has been a new experience. I love meeting new people, learning about their lives and getting them into the right Cadillac. The way I see it, my job is to listen to their needs, ask questions, and point them in the right direction. Every customer is different, and that’s what I love about this job.
Shortly before close one evening, a woman came into the dealership wanting to see a CTS. She told me the vehicle was not for her, and as I learned more about the driver of the vehicle I realized that the XTS was a better fit for his lifestyle. Susie asked for my card and told me she would be in touch. While this encounter was not typical, I assumed Susie was a “secret shopper” and was simply testing my product knowledge.
The woman came back a few days later to make the vehicle purchase. She introduced herself as Susie Buffett, and revealed that the car was for her father, Warren. I was surprised and delighted. I had actually met Warren Buffett years before when I was working as a server at restaurant here in Omaha. You truly never know who will walk into the dealership!
Mr. Buffett requested that I personally deliver his XTS so that he could say hello after all the time that had passed. I was thrilled and humbled to know that Mr. Buffett remembered me. I had always been impressed by his kindness and humility, and my experience delivering the vehicle was no exception.
When I dropped off the XTS to Mr. Buffett, I gave him a Cadillac hat. He seemed just as excited about the hat as he was about the car, and I think that tells you all that you need to know about his personality.
Delivering the XTS to Mr. Buffett was an experience I won’t soon forget. It encapsulates everything that’s great about working at a Cadillac dealership: interacting with people, helping them find their perfect car, and seeing the joy on their faces when the vehicle is delivered. I can’t wait to see who comes into the dealership today.
