From baby-proofing to investing in the latest and greatest gear, expectant and new parents have a lot to prepare for when entering the unfamiliar world of parenthood. One of the most important things to consider is car safety, which includes everything from choosing and installing the proper car seat (the most important item parents need to take their baby home from the hospital!) to dealing with new distractions and risks that may come about while traveling.
GM Foundation’s Safe Kids program stresses the importance of vehicle safety and, alongside Chevrolet, recently sponsored “The Biggest Baby Shower Ever,” presented by Big City Moms in Los Angeles.
“The Biggest Baby Shower Ever” was THE place for new and expectant LA parents to learn about the latest and greatest baby gear. Top industry leaders and celebrities were there to share insights while parents had the opportunity to interact with other expectant and new moms and dads.
As new parents often consider upgrading to a more family friendly car, guests could check out the Chevrolet Equinox and Buick Encore, which were on display at the event. Chevrolet also hosted five families from the U.S. Army Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion that are expecting or recently welcomed new additions to their families.
Celebrities Beverly Mitchell and Christopher Gavigan were transported to the event in a GMC Acadia and Cadillac Escalade, compliments of General Motors. Chevrolet also gave away sun shades that recipients can place on their car window displaying the worlds, “Mom’s Little VIP on Board.”
Chevrolet and Safe Kids’ overall goal was to help ensure new parents are prepared for distractions in the vehicle. Safety tips were crafted and safety tip sheets were handed out at the event to provide parents with information they need as they embark on, or continue on, the journey of parenthood.
